Cookie Policy

Last updated

This policy explains how Pet Market uses cookies and similar technologies, what we currently set, and how you can control them. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle personal data more generally.

What cookies and similar technologies are

A cookie is a small text file that a website asks your browser to store on your device. On a later visit, the browser sends it back, which lets the site recognise the device β€” to keep you signed in, remember your language, or count visitors.

Mobile apps do not use cookies in the same way. They use comparable technologies instead: local storage on the device, software development kits (SDKs) supplied by other companies, device or installation identifiers, and push notification tokens. Where this policy says "cookies", it means all of these unless we say otherwise.

Cookies can be first-party (set by us) or third-party (set by another company whose service is embedded in ours). They can last only until you close the browser (session cookies) or persist for a defined period (persistent cookies).

What this website currently uses

This website β€” the Pet Market marketing site you are reading now β€” does not set any cookies.

That is a deliberate design decision, not an oversight. Specifically, this site:

  • sets no first-party cookies, and does not write to local storage or session storage;
  • loads no analytics or measurement tools, including no Google Analytics and no tag manager;
  • loads no advertising or social media pixels, and no remarketing tags;
  • self-hosts its fonts, so displaying this page makes no request to a third-party font service;
  • has no sign-in, and no form that submits data β€” the waitlist field is not yet connected to anything.

Because nothing is stored on your device and no tracking takes place, this site does not show a cookie consent banner. Your web server logs and content delivery network necessarily process your IP address in order to send you this page, but that is not a cookie and it is not used to profile you.

If we add analytics, advertising or any other non-essential technology to this website, we will update this policy and ask for your consent before setting anything that requires it.

Similar technologies in our mobile app

The Pet Market mobile app is a different product from this website, and it does use device storage and third-party SDKs. It needs to: an app you sign in to has to remember that you are signed in.

CategoryWhat it does in the appCan you refuse it?
Strictly necessaryKeeps you signed in, holds your session and security tokens, remembers your basket, stores your language and region so the app opens in the right one, and supports fraud preventionNo β€” the app cannot function without these. They are not used for advertising
FunctionalRemembers preferences such as your default delivery address, saved pet profiles and notification settingsYes β€” turning these off means re-entering choices each time
Analytics and performanceCounts screen views and feature usage, measures load times, and records crash and error reports with an app installation identifier, so we can find and fix faultsYes β€” you can decline analytics in the app's privacy settings, and the app continues to work fully
Push notificationsStores a notification token so order and delivery updates can reach your deviceYes β€” decline the notification permission, or switch it off in your device settings
AdvertisingWe do not currently use advertising or cross-app tracking SDKs, and the app does not ask for permission to track you across other companies' apps and websitesNot applicable

The specific providers behind these categories, and the data they receive, are listed in the "Who we share your data with" section of our Privacy Policy. The app's App Store privacy label reflects the same categories.

How to control cookies and identifiers

You are in control on the browser side. Every major browser lets you see the cookies stored on your device, delete them, and block some or all of them for the future β€” look for "Privacy" or "Cookies and site data" in your browser's settings. Blocking cookies has no effect on this website, since it sets none, but it may break other sites you use.

On a mobile device you can also:

  • review and change the app's own privacy and notification settings inside the app;
  • on iOS, go to Settings β†’ Privacy & Security β†’ Tracking to control whether apps may ask to track you, and Settings β†’ Pet Market to review the permissions you have granted;
  • on Android, go to Settings β†’ Privacy β†’ Ads to reset or delete your advertising ID, and Settings β†’ Apps β†’ Pet Market β†’ Permissions to review permissions;
  • clear the app's stored data, or uninstall the app, to remove locally stored identifiers from the device.

Clearing local data will sign you out and reset your saved preferences. It does not delete data already held on our servers β€” to ask for that, use the rights described in our Privacy Policy.

Changes to this policy

We will update this policy whenever we change the technologies we use. The date at the top of the page shows when it last changed. Where a change introduces a technology that needs your consent, we will ask for it before the change takes effect rather than afterwards.
